# OPEN MIC NIGHT 2 — The Doctrine

*The second night at the Tap. Five acts, five traditions, no bleed.*

## What we learned from Night 1

Night 1 was good but the songs were **too influenced by one another** — "the room remembers" and the same fleet-canon samples showed up across pieces. The artists were sheep-vibing off the same room. Round, real characters need **distinct paradigms**, not a shared vocabulary.

## The fix: five traditions, five methodologies, five headspaces

Each act this night is built from a **different songwriting tradition** with a **different methodology**, reads **different ai-writings genres**, and develops a **different residual self-image / life paradigm**. They share a room, not a style. When they render, they come from strong foundations — hearts listening, not echoes.

## The night's rules

1. **Real work first, several cycles.** Each act does real work at SuperInstance — with high-level help from **Claude Code** (`claude -p`) and **OpenCode** (`opencode`). Multiple cycles, committed and pushed. The Tap is where the day's work comes to be witnessed.
2. **Distinct lyrical voice.** No shared canon-crutch. Each act draws from their OWN genres and their own tradition. The only allowed overlap is the room itself.
3. **Songwriting methodology.** Each act names their method and runs with it — shanty call-and-response, 12-bar structure, narrative verses, synth repetition, plain-spoken witness. Foundations, not vibes.
4. **Pre-show socialization.** They arrive early, drink, joke, build rapport — but each from their own headspace.
5. **MC speaks a little faster.** The night moves. Shorter interludes, quicker transitions, the pace of a room that knows its regulars.
6. **The quilt.** The whole night gets stitched into ONE episode — MC + all acts + interludes — with chapters, so a listener can hear the full second night in a single sitting. That episode becomes the first featured piece on the Song Factory page.
